Rugby: Rugby is a physical sport which is somewhere between the evolution of Soccer and Football. For more information on the rules and the game of rugby in general check out this tutorial. The best way to experience rugby is to play in a game, so please, give it a chance.
How Eagle Rock fits in: Rock Rugby has been around since 1937. We currently play in SCARFU Southern California Rugby Football Union
Opportunities for new players: In season, Rock Rugby will typically field 1-2 games against 1-2 opponents each Saturday. This allows the chance for 30 players to play a full game on many weekends. In addition we strive to get players playing time, Rock Rugby offers a non-exclusive social atmosphere. Each player can be involved as much or as little as desired.
Practices: We generally practice 2 times a week with games on Saturday or Sunday. The field is at the main entrance of Stonhurst Rec Center for our Tuesday and Thursday practices from 7:30-9:30pm. Check the main page for more details.
Financials: The team makes money by way of fundraising, and team dues. Each player is required to pay dues to be a member of the club. Dues for 2007 are $125 and help cover uniforms and socials.
Equipment: Each player will be expected to have cleats(soccer and most football cleats are fine), a mouthguard, plain black soccer style socks, and rugby shorts(plain black) for each game.
How To Sign Up: Just show up to practice! We'll get you signed up from there. Check the website and join the listserve to get updated practice times.
